The Shadow of Death by Jodi Andrews

$14.99

In The Shadow of Death, Jodi Andrews explores the physical and psychological pain of a possible cancer diagnosis. Like a skilled surgeon, she’s exacting, wielding words decisively. Her stripped-back lines suggest fragility but convey emotional strength. Even when she’s afraid, and “thistles tangle through” her body, she “lassos the ribbons” of hope to her wrist. With her insight, the collection’s speaker—both youthful and wise, both terrified and brave, both vulnerable and resilient—inspires us to gather up thoughts of our mortality and hold them close.

–Christine Stewart-Nuñez, Author of Bluewords Greening and Untrussed
