The Stars Went Out and So Did the Moon by Cristiana Baik

$14.99

Poet Cristiana Baik writes, “My heart’s landscape is a vast open country.”
I could think of no better way to describe this gift of a book. Written with precision, complexity, and a honed sense of self in the rendering of the poetic line, this is a  beautiful debut collection of poems.

Truong Tran

As on the skin of water, petals, leaves, & feathers ghost-multiply,” Cristiana Baik’s poetic debut “splinters” and merges subjective desire and setting into an intimate, atmospheric language that is wholly her own. Echoing such masters as Eugenio Montale and Paul Celan, this collection fills its lyric with that meditative gesture that “only shared language” can truly achieve. Its highly personal address distorts time and space, bringing into place the real and the ideal: the I, beloved, and reader.
