Charlotte Gregg Morgan grew up in Richmond, Virginia during the Elvis craze, the Civil Rights movement, and the unquestioned power of the Southern Baptist Church.

Morgan was influenced by the church, rock music, and her grandmother’s poetry recitations. She acknowledges the influence of strong, devoted female teachers who cherished language and telegraphed the message that girls should be using their brains.

An award-winning author, Morgan has published poetry, short fiction, and three novels. Time Travel is her first chapbook. These poems chart the elemental development of Morgan as a woman, a thinker and observer, and a poet.

Morgan’s poetry is influenced by Richard Wilbur, Sharon Olds, Billy Collins, and Claudia Emerson. Cathryn Hankla is her creative mentor and guide.

As writer-in-residence each summer at Nimrod Hall Summer Arts Program, Morgan works with writers in all stages of their careers.
