Praise for Rosamundo

“Through the genre of the prose poem, Barbara de la Cuesta captures both the stilled beauty of the lyric line…and the full throttled pitch of prose…a cross between Flannery O’Connor and Roddy Doyle.

–Kate McCann,  The Sea’s Rosary, Roof Gone to Sky, Barn Sour

It is an enlightening and insightful journey down the river in Barbara de la Cuesta’s new collection of poems On the River This Morning. The poet poses an intriguing question when she asks “there is a space, / between the atoms, / between electrons…/ And in that space, / is it, that the dry bones are said/ to put on flesh, that the god intrudes / and fecundates?” Barbara de la Cuesta’s poems are rich and inviting—a simply beautiful blend of prose poetry.
