Thanks for Nothing by Deb Jannerson

Advance praise for Thanks for Nothing:

Deb Jannerson‘s Thanks for Nothing is a jewel-toned, kaleidoscopic rendering of living among contemporary America’s unkindnesses. Out of pain, Jannerson creates a strange and elemental tableau. Structural inequities, phony concern, and the speaker herself morph into sinister dioramas pasted together from tainted childhood memories and the always-distressing news. The collection’s images traverse seamlessly among nature, pop-culture, mythos, and political critique. Jannerson’s alliterative and idiosyncratic rendering of firsts—persons, touches, tries—fun-houses the collection’s physics, welcoming readers in the experience of emerging, dizzy but comfortable, from a legacy of hurt.”

–Jessica Morey-Collins, poet and Pushcart nominee

Praise for Rabbit Rabbit:

Deb Jannerson‘s language builds, flares, collapses, and rotates ‘in time with an / arrhythmic heart.’ She navigates sorrow, anxiety, and survival with the kind of lyricism that easily invites readers in to explore the ‘mottled, shine-drenched wanderings’ of this strange and beautiful mind.”

–Franny Choi, poet and teaching artist, author of Floating, Brilliant, Gone (Write Bloody Publishing) and Death by Sex Machine (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2017)

“The book’s emotional landscape is complex, a real feat given its brevity. No stone of its dark terrain—whether shame, powerlessness, cynicism, or shyness—goes unturned. There’s a bit of Plath in Jannerson’s sensibility, but with less grandiosity and more immediate realism.”
