The Other side of the bed and beyond by Linda Freudenberger

Linda Freudenberger’s poetry speaks to and from the heart.  In her debut collection, Freudenberger weaves that heart through words of love and loss and recovery.  A recovery that wonders how do I fix it?  A recovery that looks for signs and finds a green sea turtle of hope. Through late nights and darkness, the author struggles to open her heart and “crack the light.”  When found, that light brings comfort, and, yes, joy from the animal world, from nature, from grandchildren, and from the beauty of memory.  These insightful poems linger and offer a quiet soothing to anyone who has lost a loved one.

“The Other Side of the Bed and Beyond” by Linda Freudenberger is a deeply moving tribute to a marriage. Rich in detail and high in emotion, poems depicting the happy years of the couple interlieve with the poems dedicated to the heartbreaking reality of loss. Death alters the relationship between these two people, but can’t break it. Life steps in and grows the survivors. The poems in this book give us hope that such devotion and connection are possible. Congratulations, Linda, for this beautiful and impactful work!

The Other Side of the Bed and Beyond is a journey of grief following the sudden death of the author’s husband of forty-two years of marriage. During the healing process, she shares glimpses of love, loss, and memories of the life they shared. Other themes emerged along the way. Nature poems about trees, dogs, and tropical fish. Family poems about her dad, her grandsons that she nicknamed The Sheriff & the Outlaw, and her beloved Westie, Clancy, fill the pages of this personal, heartfelt collection.
