“Paliwal is a master of imagery and description. Her poems dazzle with their tenderness and awe. What’s immediately striking is the energy each word exudes, as if Paliwal has magically tapped into the spirit of each word so that the poem as a whole is a multiplicity of meaning and the human experience.”

–Ann Y.K. Choi, Author Kay’s Lucky Coin Variety

“In Water Bearer’s Song, Paliwal sings of all the beautiful and tragic things in life with language sad, vulnerable and haunting in one breath, then savagely pure and honest in the next. The verses are visceral, cerebral. You feel the words so deeply and see the images so lucidly. Each poem gets into your head and into your bones. Water Bearer’s Song is an extraordinary achievement. Vaishali Paliwal is a marvelously gifted poet.”

–Alberto Ramirez, Author Everything That Could Not Happen Will Happen Now

“Vaishali’s poems will instantly transport you to the forests of dreams. Thick with the moonlight, lush with seamless imagery and green with the poet’s tender soul. There is nothing we need more right now than to allow poetry in. For that, Vaishali’s work is the forest’s marvel medicine.”

–Shringi Kumari, Author The Saree Shop

Water Bearer’s Song sings of days of quarantine, of threads of loneliness, isolation and nostalgia knitting the existence of human lives in all the ages and times, whether a pandemic or not. The song might appear to be of notes of grief, but in the meditative depths of the water of empty spaces, it transcends loss and emerges to be the echoing sound of human resilience and its beauty.

Vaishali Paliwal is a poet and artist from India currently residing in Los Angeles.
