With Them I Move by Christopher Brooks

Christopher Brooks is immersed in Oklahoma, his voice arising a from a “dirt section road bisecting a remnant river bottom cornfield.” His poetry, closely attuned to place—to his home place – all the places he travels, reminds us that “There is no greater mystery than an angel’s smoky breath cloud of blackbirds dancing across the sky.”

–Jeanetta Calhoun Mish, 2017-18 Oklahoma State Poet Laureate

With Them I Move takes you on a nice stroll along the path of memory and movement.  Actually, it turns into a bit of a hike through the forest and down dirt roads, where you’ll like the view while learning his.  Christopher gives you poems that answer questions and pose new ones.  That’s his specialty. I enjoy his insight and the straight forward progress of the scenes and characters he shares with us. They compel you to look inside yourself and think. Go ahead and stroll through this book.

–Johnie Catfish (J. C.) Mahan, author of Living Posthumorously
