“Tight, understated, these poems are sharp shovels that allow the deep digging into complex emotional territory. They surprise and sustain, keeping us delightfully off-balance with their sharp wit and surprising vulnerability. Grow, Pick, Peel, Core—everything in this remarkable collection is that succinct and clear.”

–Jim Daniels, author of Gun/Shy

“You Are Not Lost” is feminist, lyric storytelling. Rich with humor and symbolism, Frederickson’s narratives create a strange intimacy between the speaker and reader. And the strength of her poetic voice is a reminder to all who read that within the roots of ancestral wounds, there is space for growth.”

–Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo, Author of Posada: Offerings of Witness and Refuge

You Are Not lost plays with the weird, soft, and hopeful places of childhood all while trying to make applesauce. These poems take the shape of a sonnet series, palindromes, and nonsense as they ask David Attenborough’s disembodied voice for advice on love, sex, the end of the world, and handbags.

Jeri now calls Chicago home with her two cats and many plants. She swims in literary, visual, and performing arts as an expression of survival. She writes, edits, directs, and curates as a channel to nurture love and access beauty while questioning the experiences that hold people together.
