Casting for Meteors by David Scheler

Scheler’s collection of poems is a kaleidoscope of sounds, visions, musings, and sensibilities. By titling his anthology Casting for Meteors, the poet arrogates to himself the critical task of illuminating the quintessential nexus that links man to the natural world. David Scheler pays homage to the natural world. The omnipresence of natural elements is conveyed in the first snow that powders black limbs; the carcass of a yearling glistening on the grass; white winds that howl, naked oaks that bare their bones; the evening that quivers off the river, the splatter of rain that shatters the budded landscape and more.
